Origin emerges from stealth with $20 million for construction robots
Image: Origin, via ForbesOrigin emerged from stealth on October 15 with $20 million in total funding, co-led by Accel and Zacua Ventures. Its OG-1 robot applies compound, sands and primes interior walls using interchangeable tools on a wheeled platform. The financing will support fleet buildout, customer pilots and expansion into additional trades. Origin combines modular hardware with a Construction Action Model that links workflow planning, navigation and tool use to feedback-driven motion. It trains the model on simulation and live job-site data. The robot can reach up to 14 feet. CEO Yogesh Ghaturle told Forbes that the claimed threefold speed advantage is measured over a complete shift, including setup, tool changes, replenishment and maintenance. A crew member still helps map the site, choose the work area and tools, and supply materials. This is a company-reported comparison, not an independent benchmark. Taping, drywall installation, drilling and conduit installation are planned additions, not all current capabilities. Origin targets 150 robots deployed by the end of 2027. The company was founded in early 2025 by Yogesh Ghaturle, Ashish Daga and Tushar Makkar and is headquartered in San Francisco. Its announcement describes $20 million in total funding; it does not break that total into separate rounds or disclose a valuation.
