IBM targets early-2027 quantum computer deployment in Amaravati

IBM expects machines for its Andhra Pradesh Quantum Valley initiative to arrive in Amaravati in early 2027, according to India managing director Sandip Patel, quoted by The Economic Times on October 14. He said the facility is nearly ready and stressed that application development and skills are as important as infrastructure. This is a deployment plan, not an installed or operating system. IBM's May 2025 announcement with Andhra Pradesh and TCS envisaged a Quantum System Two with a 156-qubit Heron processor, subject to export licences and definitive agreements. The current report does not independently confirm completion of those conditions or the final hardware configuration. The headline avoids an unqualified claim that this would be India's first quantum computer.
