DRDO tests quantum key distribution on live Chandipur trial network
DRDO says it configured and tested a Quantum Key Distribution platform on the live network at the Proof & Experimental Establishment in Chandipur, Odisha. The reported use case is protecting real-time observations and telemetry associated with artillery and armoured weapon trials. The system was developed under DRDO's Microelectronic Devices, Computational Systems and Cyber Security cluster with production partner Taqbit Labs. QKD establishes encryption keys and can reveal interception of the quantum signals; it does not make every connected device or the whole network automatically hack-proof. The report does not provide measured key rates, link distances, independent security validation or a confirmed service-wide deployment. This is a reported operational-network test, not proof of unconditional end-to-end security.
