Photon Bridge raises €10 million to build lasers for AI data centres

Photon Bridge, an Eindhoven-based photonics company, has raised €10 million in a round co-led by the Amadeus APEX Technology Fund and 360 Capital, with existing investors Innovation Industries, Faber and the Brabant Development Agency (BOM) increasing their investment. The company designs laser sources for AI data centres, where optical connections are moving closer to processors; Omdia forecasts more than 20 million data-centre AI accelerators will ship annually by 2028. Rather than a few increasingly powerful lasers, Photon Bridge combines and multiplexes light from many lower-power semiconductor lasers, delivering up to 40 mW of optical power per wavelength per fibre across multiple indium phosphide foundries; the yield and scaling benefits are company claims. First samples are expected in 2027, with volume manufacturing planned from 2028. The company, known as Photon IP until 2025, previously raised a €4.75 million seed round in January 2025 led by Innovation Industries, with Faber, BOM and PhotonDelta.
