Skyroot to launch sunlight-on-demand satellites for US startup Reflect Orbital

Hyderabad-based Skyroot Aerospace has signed a two-launch agreement with Reflect Orbital, a California startup developing satellites with large mirrors designed to redirect sunlight to chosen locations on Earth after dark. The first mission will fly on Skyroot's Vikram-1 rocket, and the second on Vikram-1U, a variant still under development. Reflect Orbital says the reflected sunlight could illuminate disaster-hit regions during rescue operations, extend working hours at remote industrial sites and add generation hours for solar farms. The companies have not announced launch dates, and the mirror-satellite concept remains to be demonstrated in orbit.
