ThinkMetal raises ₹27 crore to scale metal additive manufacturing
Chennai-based ThinkMetal has raised Rs 27 crore in a funding round led by IAN Alpha Fund, with participation from 3i Partners and existing investors, Entrackr reports. Founded in 2021 by Sabyasachi Ghosh and Arushi Sharma, the startup develops indigenous technology for precision metal manufacturing. Its commercial product, SistemT1, is a metal additive manufacturing system that builds components from the company's proprietary FuseX metal filament, followed by debinding and high-temperature sintering. ThinkMetal says the process can produce high-value precision metal parts up to 10 times faster and at half the cost of conventional methods; these are company claims. The capital will go toward product development, expanding R&D, hiring and wider adoption among industrial customers in aerospace, defence, space, automotive and electric mobility. According to IAN Alpha Fund, ThinkMetal has made at least 17 intellectual-property filings; how many have been granted was not specified. The company has moved from enterprise pilot projects toward larger commercial deployments.
