Engineering India’s future of energy.
Early-stage investor in energy transition, industrial technology and engineering-led hardware.
Connect Now01 / The fund
Transition VC backs engineering-led businesses across energy storage, electric mobility, hydrogen, industrial heat, power electronics, renewable operations and enabling hardware or software. Its preferred entry point is post-product but before repeatable product-market fit: the engineering works, but the business still needs to prove how it will win customers at scale. It combines capital with industry relationships and operating support.
The manager’s current website states an average cheque range of $500K-$5M and pre-seed to Series A stage. Fund II, launched in July 2026 with a reported INR 1,500 crore target, described $2M-$5M investments in about 20 companies over four years from Q3 FY27. That is a planned vehicle-specific range, not a confirmed first close or a promise that every cheque is that size. The wider official range is retained above.
Fund I is now shown as oversubscribed and closed at INR 723 crore. The manager’s December 2025 announcement said INR 700 crore, followed by the co-founder’s January 2026 update of INR 723 crore. SIDBI’s official commitments list separately retains an INR 300 crore target and INR 20 crore sanction for Fund - 1. Those dated target and sanction records are not substituted for the later close amount.
The official footer separately lists Category II Fund I (IN/AIF2/22-23/1174), Fund II (IN/AIF2/26-27/2146), Opportunities Fund I (IN/AIF2/26-27/2289), and the Category I Angel Fund (IN/AIF1/23-24/1335). Fund I is managed by Transition Investment Manager LLP; Fund II and Opportunities Fund I by Transition Asset Management LLP; the Angel Fund by Flux Investment Manager LLP. The company list is manager-wide, not an assignment of each holding to all four vehicles.

The manager’s portfolio grid names 18 companies while its homepage reports 19 active holdings. The list below adds EarthEn Energy from separate manager-linked evidence: the co-founder discusses its India manufacturing and the other co-founder lists an investor and board role. Its exact fund vehicle is undisclosed, so it is labeled separately rather than silently filling the grid gap. Prior personal angel investments are not mixed into the institutional portfolio.
Energy & Materials includes power, thermal storage, hydrogen, motors, cooling and industrial infrastructure. Physical AI includes drone autonomy, drone components and connected device communications. Intrinsic Foundries is BioTech; carbon-project services and software-only utility or sustainability platforms remain in Others.

Makes liquid-desiccant air-treatment systems for industrial dehumidification and clean rooms. A liquid absorbs moisture and is regenerated with heat, allowing humidity and temperature to be controlled together. Products include air-handling units and heat-and-mass-exchanger kits.
Holding source ↗
Develops insulated metal substrates for power electronics and high-power lighting. These circuit-board foundations combine electrical insulation with heat transfer, removing heat from controllers, chargers, converters and LEDs. Its own site describes an in-house insulating material and additive manufacturing process.
Holding source ↗
Provides wind-turbine operations, maintenance, spare parts and asset-management services. Its own site also describes cloud monitoring, AI and robotics for renewable assets. The core business is keeping wind installations running, not manufacturing an entire turbine.
Holding source ↗
Builds modular on-site hydrogen-generation systems using water electrolysis, gas conditioning and controls. The systems supply high-purity hydrogen at the point of use for industries including diamonds, chemicals and semiconductor manufacturing, reducing dependence on transported gas.
Holding source ↗
Designs and manufactures electric motors, drives, controllers and geartrains for vehicles, industrial equipment and solar pumps. Its in-house powertrain work combines the motor with the electronics and transmission parts that control and deliver motion.
Holding source ↗
Develops power converters for electric-vehicle chargers, battery-swapping stations, solar and battery-storage systems, and hydrogen equipment. Digital control algorithms and modular hardware regulate how electricity changes voltage and flows between sources and loads.
Holding source ↗
Builds industrial waste-heat recovery systems and heat pumps. Products recover heat from compressors, chillers, exhaust gases and wastewater for hot water or process heating, with connected monitoring. This reuses heat a factory would otherwise discard.
Holding source ↗
Develops a composable-infrastructure module for data centres. Its top-of-rack network switch and software make compute, storage and network resources available as shared services, aiming to reduce physical scaling and power use. It is data-centre hardware, not a semiconductor manufacturer.
Holding source ↗
Develops proton-exchange-membrane hydrogen fuel cells, which combine hydrogen and oxygen to make electricity and water. Its air-cooled architecture is being developed for backup power, delivery vehicles and drones. Product ranges and endurance statements include design targets, not confirmed commercial performance.
Holding source ↗
Integrates immersion-cooled batteries, charging hardware, energy storage and management software. Its NEXO system manages energy from the grid to vehicles, while thermal and battery-health controls manage heat and battery condition. It supplies an energy system rather than just a standalone cell.
Holding source ↗
Develops modular heat batteries for industrial steam and hot-air demand. Renewable electricity or waste heat charges a solid storage bed, which later releases heat into a factory process. Its current site leads with solid-media heat storage, not only its earlier carbon-dioxide power-cycle technology.
Additional manager-linked investment outside the 18-name portfolio grid; the co-founder also lists an investor and board role. Fund vehicle and ownership percentage were not disclosed.
Holding source ↗
Builds vision-first autonomy for flying robots. Cameras and onboard computing help its Bumblebee drone understand three-dimensional terrain and navigate around obstacles with less dependence on GPS. Agriculture is the first deployment, with inspection applications also described.
Holding source ↗
Designs and sells drone electronics including flight controllers, electronic speed controllers, radio receivers and satellite-positioning modules. These are the control, power and navigation components inside aircraft, not a claim that it builds every complete drone.
Holding source ↗
Builds open-standards machine-to-machine communications and device-management technology for smart utilities, cities and industrial networks. Radio-frequency mesh links allow devices to relay data through neighbouring devices, supporting smart-meter and sensor deployments.
Holding source ↗
Builds biorefinery systems that turn industrial carbon streams into biomass and higher-value biochemicals. Its photobioreactors use biological cultivation to capture carbon dioxide, with downstream processes aimed at ingredients and materials. This is biotechnology for industrial carbon use.
Holding source ↗
Develops nature-based carbon-credit projects using regenerative agriculture and rice cultivation. Soil sampling, satellite data and field verification track changes on farms and support credit monitoring. It is a carbon-project and measurement business, not a carbon-capture machine maker.
Holding source ↗
Provides utility operations software combining smart-meter readings, industrial-control data and field workforce information. Its Grid platform supports data capture, analytics, work orders and automated responses, with AI tools for queries and reports. It is software, not metering hardware.
Holding source ↗
Provides software for environmental, social and governance due diligence, risk assessment and sustainability reporting. It aggregates data and applies AI models to help banks and businesses assess customers, investments and supply chains. It does not itself generate clean energy.
Holding source ↗
Combines carbon-measurement software with managed services for manufacturers. It helps measure emissions, plan reductions and arrange lower-carbon logistics, packaging, waste management and other services. The software-plus-services model is separate from physical clean-energy hardware.
