01 / The fund

Backing technical conviction early

Shastra VC, formerly Veda VC, backs early-stage founders in frontier technology, climate technology and AI. Its current website names space, aerospace and defence, semiconductors, biotechnology, quantum computing and nanotechnology alongside climate and AI-native software. The firm works with founders before mature business metrics exist and supports go-to-market, fundraising and company-building.

The manager website currently reports $160M+ in assets under management. That is a firm-level figure, not the size or verified close of one fund. Its June 2026 public post confirms the launch of a $100M third vehicle. May 2026 reporting attributes a $500,000-$3M investment range to the firm for that new vehicle. October 2026 coverage says Fund III was nearing a final close; a current final close was not independently confirmed. Older press AUM figures and the website footer's Fund I/II registrations should not be read as a complete current fund ledger.

The portfolio below contains 40 current manager-listed entries across several funds, not 40 new Fund III investments. It includes software, consumer and financial-services businesses as well as science-led companies. A listing does not establish that a company is still operating: Covrzy's own site announces a shutdown; Everheal's current operating status was not independently confirmed. Their cards preserve these caveats rather than presenting the whole list as active holdings.

Explore by sector

Forty entries in the current official portfolio. DTT sectors describe the technology rather than every fund theme: software AI, conventional manufacturing, radar components and service businesses remain in Others unless they fit a narrower DTT sector. Current company-site changes are noted; no return or operating-status inference is made from a manager listing.

Limited partners

No individual institutional LP commitment was independently verified in the public sources checked. The manager's investor-day post confirms LP participation in general without identifying their commitments. Named advisers, technical champions, portfolio co-investors and people photographed at an investor event are not automatically LPs.

CP Gurnani and C. Jayaram appear in press coverage as members of an advisory network. That is not evidence of an LP commitment, so no LP card is created for them. No matching commitment was found under Shastra, Veda or VVC in the checked SIDBI public table; this does not prove no public-sector backing exists under another vehicle name.
