What Lux looks for
Scientific and engineering ideas that look too early, difficult or unconventional, but could become important infrastructure. Lux invests across computational, physical and life sciences and helps build companies from their first experiments through scale.
Lux Ventures IX was announced in January 2026 at $1.5B, taking the firm's reported assets under management to $7B. The firm describes itself as early-stage biased, often leading at seed or Series A, with capital for a decade or more of company building.
January 2026 reporting describes a Fund IX median cheque of about $25M, with a wide range from much smaller investments to over $100M for selected companies. Lux's own announcement describes deploying the first $100K and the last $100M across a company's life. These are not presented as a guaranteed first-cheque range.
