01 / The fund

Early-stage backing, with follow-on capital

Kae Capital is a sector-agnostic venture firm focused on early-stage companies connected to India. Its current FAQ gives initial investments of $1.5 million-$2 million, typically at pre-seed and seed, with follow-on support. This current manager range is separate from the dated $1 million-$3 million Fund III strategy published in November 2022. Neither is a promise that every opportunity qualifies.

Fund I: the debut fund closed at $25 million in March 2012. Fund II: September 2017 reporting records a $53 million final close, above the original $40 million target. Fund III: the 24 November 2022 announcement gives a final close of ₹767 crore. Dollar descriptions of roughly $94 million-$100 million vary with reporting and exchange rates; the rupee close is retained.

Winners Fund II: the September 2023 final close was $50 million, reported as about ₹410 crore, for follow-on and growth-stage backing. It is not the earlier $25 million target. Qure.ai and BrightCHAMPS are explicitly identified with this vehicle in the manager's quarterly update.

Fund IV: December 2025 reporting described a $100 million-$110 million fundraising target. A March 2026 LEI record lists Kae Capital Fund IV's registration as IN/AIF2/25-26/2101, dated 24 March 2026. Registration and a target are not evidence of a final close. The manager's fund-details page does not yet list Fund IV. Kael Opportunities Fund is separately registered as IN/AIF2/20-21/0809; Fund II A is a scheme under the Fund II registration, not silently counted as another independent fund.

Explore by sector

87 company relationships: 47 current manager profiles plus 40 historical, newer, indirect and founder-track-record entries. This is a public reconstruction, not 87 current fund holdings. The manager's 90+ headline is not a count of the visible investment grid. Three clearly labelled founder-track-record entries and Craftsvilla's indirect equity lineage are retained without claiming a direct Kae-fund cheque.

Every entry appears in the gallery, with sectors ordered by count and Others last. Ownsite products steer categories: Cartesian Kinetics is warehouse robotics; STCH develops textiles; Enerzolve supplies grid and energy-storage systems. Ordinary software, consumer services, clinical AI software and wellness brands are not labelled deep tech merely because their marketing mentions AI or health. ShepHertz's announced on-device models are distinguished from its explicitly simulated drone visual.

Learntron/Disprz, Touchkin/Wysa, Vetted/Certa, CloudByte/MayaData and CultureAlley/Hello English are one lineage each. Round1/TAL is not added separately from Grapevine. Partial exits and equity swaps are not treated as proof that all overseas or follow-on ownership ended. Historical companies with no usable authentic mark use explicit name labels, not invented logos.

Employers are not inferred to be LPs from individual names. Henry Kravis is not relabelled KKR. Reported Velos and Velo spellings remain qualified. Sanctioned commitments, target corpus and final close are distinct figures. Fund managers, trustees, co-investors and portfolio companies are not treated as LPs merely because they appear nearby.
