Pandorum and Nucelion partner on two PRIP-backed eye-therapy programmes

Nucelion Therapeutics, the cell and gene therapy CDMO subsidiary of Bharat Biotech, and Pandorum Technologies, a Bengaluru tissue-engineering and regenerative-medicine company, will collaborate on two ophthalmology projects under a manufacturing partnership, The Hindu reports. The projects, backed by the Centre's Promotion of Research and Innovation in Pharma MedTech (PRIP) scheme, aim to develop investigational therapies for advanced keratopathy and wet age-related macular degeneration, with a combined outlay of ₹16.97 crore including up to ₹8 crore in PRIP funding. Nucelion will handle process development and manufacturing support for Pandorum's designer exosomes, supplying material made under good manufacturing practice for clinical studies in India and abroad. The advanced-keratopathy programme is directed towards clinical evaluation in severe corneal disease; the wet-AMD programme is in preclinical development. PRIP, launched in 2023 with a ₹5,000 crore outlay, supports pharma and medtech R&D across startups, MSMEs and large companies. This is Nucelion's second project announcement this month, after a cell-therapy collaboration with Hyderabad-based VeGen Bio.
