Nova Spectral AI raises ₹21 crore to build low-cost SWIR image sensors
Bengaluru-based semiconductor startup Nova Spectral AI has raised ₹21.15 crore ($2.25 million) in a round led by Shastra VC, with participation from Equirus InnovateX Fund and angel investors. Founded by IIT Kanpur alumni Anish Priyadarshi and Sanjeev Kumar, the company is developing a short-wave infrared (SWIR) image sensor that lets cameras capture images in low light and through smoke, haze and fog. The founders aim to make the sensors up to 100 times cheaper than today's InGaAs-based technology by building them on standard silicon CMOS, with first applications in defence drones and surveillance systems and potential across robotics, cars and smartphones.
