Tata Communications to invest ₹4,350 crore in 10,000-km AI data centre network
Tata Communications will invest ₹4,350 crore ($400-450 million) to build around 10,000 km of AI-ready connectivity infrastructure linking data centre and AI hubs across India, the company said in a stock-exchange filing on Monday. The first phase will connect the Mumbai-Pune-Hyderabad-Chennai corridor, with later phases extending to Vizag, Bhubaneswar, Jamnagar and GIFT City, and the network will link major AI and data centre hubs to international cable landing stations. The investment, funded through operating cash flows, is expected to add about 6 petabits per second of capacity to the company's existing 1.25 Pbps between FY2030 and FY2036. Managing director and CEO Ganesh Lakshminarayanan said the data centre-to-data centre connectivity market could exceed $1 billion over the medium term.
